Specialist Status
Chichester High School for Girls has been a specialist school in the Arts and Science since September 2007. This makes us the lead school in the area in Art, Drama, and Science. Specialist Status gives the school extra money to enrich not only these subjects areas but the whole school curriculum as well. It also enables us to work with our partnership schools and the wider community.
As part of the enrichment, we are able to offer a variety of educational visits, workshops and master classes and for the benefit of the pupils. We offer first class curriculum provision to raise the attainment and aspiration of all of our students.

Everyone whatever their age or starting point can learn new skills in arts and science in our school. We have introduced Additional applied Science at Key Stage 4, which offers a practical approach to Science together with Science Triple Award opportunities.
We improve the learning of key concepts through visual and dramatic presentation. This year, we have used both art and drama to inspire pupils in Key Stage 3 science. These events have a major positive impact in the teaching and learning of difficult concepts.

Through our Specialist Status, we are improving pupils' preparedness for life by focusing on creativity, understanding and innovation as well as skills and knowledge. In the Arts, pupils have the opportunity to pursue the Arts Council Artsaward at Bronze, Silver and Gold level, whilst our Science Academy currently provides year 8 pupils with an after school opportunity to work towards their Crest Award (Creativity in Science and Technology).
Our specialist status funding enables us to improve our resources throughout the school including the further development of a pond lab, which is a valuable facility for our own students as well as those from our partnership schools.

Through our close links with Kingsham, Central and Portfield primary schools, we are enriching their curriculum and helping them to achieve their targets and provide their teachers with new skills. We have supported Portfield School's first ever Arts Week and Kingsham Primary's Science Week earlier this year.
We are also expanding our work in the wider community with events such as the hugely successful Go Create event, part of the Chichester Festivities, and the hosting of the Annual West Sussex Technicians' Conference.
We are looking forward to the completion of our capital project - a flexible space to extend opportunities for our pupils within the curriculum, as part of enrichment and extended schools provision. It will be a facility where we can invite our local community to experience the arts and science for themselves.
