Chichester High
School for Girls

Rationale
 
The Admission policy of this school reflects the current WSCC policy and handbook for all County schools in West Sussex.  This policy is outlined in the booklet Information for Parents which is published by the Local Authority.  The Admissions handbook may also be found on the website www.wsgfl.org.uk.
 
Aims
 
1.     To conform to the WSCC policy for admissions to County schools in West Sussex.
 
2.     To maintain a published admissions number (PAN) which is appropriate to the 
        accommodation and resources of the school.
 
Implementation
 
1.     The published admission number limit defined by the Governing Body is 252.
 
2.    This policy covers the following types of admissions:
 
         a)   The main admission round which is an annual process.
         b)   “In year” admission, when the pupil is new to the area.
         c)    Parental transfer request, when parents wish to transfer their child from one 
                local school to another.
         d)   Managed move, which a school instigates from one local school to another.
               The pupil would normally be at risk of exclusion.
         e)   Re-integration of pupils following exclusion, or time at a pupil referral 
               unit or special school.
         f)    Placement of vulnerable or potentially challenging pupils.

4.     The WSCC policy is that waiting lists will be held for all year groups.  For Year 7 this 
         list will be held from allocation until the start of the summer term by the Pupil 
         Admissions Officer.
 
Monitoring
 
The Governing Body will monitor and review this policy on an annual basis in collaboration with the Headteacher.
